So it's day six! I have to say I'm very excited for David that week one is almost over! Day one was interesting... I woke up to my living room rearranged into a "gym" (if you could consider the tables moved into random places, the baby chairs piled up, and two small children running around trying to mimic Daddy's every move a gym!) Planet Fitness doesn't have anything on us! As my house shook, and heavy breathing came from the living room I was hoping that those sounds wouldn't confuse the neighbors... but then again it was 9:00 am - and things like that are only for people who don't have kids!
I now have four small holes above my door in the living room courtesy of one necessary chin-up bar! I'm sure by the time David is done with this he will be able to add "plasterer/painter" to his resume.
With four kids we knew there would be some challenges in doing this! For instance: it's not easy waking up to find there really isn't anywhere to sit in our cozy (but small) apartment. This made it easy for me to get annoyed (after being up a couple times throughout the night with the baby). I mean come on, not everyone wakes up with their game faces on! We will definitely have to come to some agreement on what time David should begin his workout. Having to drink a protein shake an hour before though, doesn't exactly fit into David's "night-owl non-morning-person" personality and waking up to complete chaos doesn't fit into mine. But I do have to admit waking up on Thursday (day four) and finding my two little ones attempting yoga side-by-side with their daddy absolutely made my day. So very cute with their little butts up in the air trying to attempt a plank position!
There have been some other obstacles - it's hard to eat on a schedule and make sure you are getting the right calories! I have difficulty myself with breastfeeding and still wanting to run on my treadmill! There was a pizza night with the family that David had to decline... I assured him that he wasn't missing anything and ate an extra piece for him!:) And on the other side of it, David made an awesome turkey burger last night and our grocery shopping yesterday was full of protein, fruit, and healthy calories for all! He also has already had to miss a morning workout and move it to the evening because it just didn't fit into the schedule! But he made it happen and won't give up! And then there is the pain...oh, the pain. I know I've heard the word "Ow" at least 100 times this week! What that tells me is that he is definitely putting his all into the workouts. I promise though, I'm laughing with him - not at him! Ok... maybe a little at him too!
I already see changes in David's body which is an absolute encouragement to keep going! I've already ordered his summer wardrobe because the internet has made it just too easy to spend money! I look forward to seeing him sporting his new getup to complement his hard work! 6 days in - only 12,000 push-ups, 9,500 chin-ups, 168 protein shakes, and 84 more days to go! Go Team!

P90X- One Last Chicken (Wing) Dance
This is it! The night before David begins his journey! We just took the infamous before pictures which obviously no one wants to post until they have some after stuff to share! I still think he looks good no matter what he does but I can't wait for him to get started! I'm excited for him! It is definitely something to look up to in my book!
This past weekend David realized that the next three months will be nothing but protein, protein, and protein! I witnessed this realization as he ate not one but two Snicker's Ice Cream bars, discovered the kid's left over Easter candy, made one last pizza and dared to eat the "New Orleans Banana Flapjacks" I made for breakfast. Did I mention these were made with buttermilk? Why don't we just put an IV in his arm and let the fat drip?! No more ice cream (Breyer's), no more pizza (Len n Jos), no more wings! No more soda, no more candy, no more, no more, no more! I expect some challenges in this area with the summer coming!! We have four children and with that lots of fun things planned! We live on the Delaware and are determined to finally float down it! With that anyone would want to pack the famous cooler filled with snacks, sodas and beer! There are BBQ's with the family and if you knew my family you would know that where there is a get together there is some good food! There is the trip to New York we would like to take Skyler on...the trip to the Jersey shore with the amazing Lemonade, clams with melted butter and OMG the french fries! We can't forget the carnivals with the gyros and cotton candy! Or the trip to Maine we have planned in June...is there a store on every corner where we can pick up the protein shake?? And time? With work and four children is there time to drink that protein shake an hour before the hour long work out? To eat on a schedule? To do what it takes to keep this going every single day?
Well in my opinion...yes! David can do this! I have all the faith in the world in him! Not to mention all of the foods I mentioned up top he already modifies to make them healthier! We already have a head start with the wheat pizza crust, the wings dipped in wing sauce and Smart Balance, the ice cream always sweetened with Splenda but reality is even those modifications aren't going to cut it with the "life change" and I'm thrilled! I'm excited for him and wish him luck! Tomorrow is day one! The chin up bar is hung, the groceries are ready, the protein shakes are here, the before pictures are taken and he's ready for bed!

P90X The Cheerleader
I don’t know who has to be more prepared to this journey David is about to begin, me or him. I know I won’t be doing the grueling workout I have heard so much about but it doesn’t mean I won’t be involved in every way and it doesn’t mean I won’t witness the pain (or get stuck listening to the whining.) I love you so much honey but I know you too!! So far “we” are getting ready to begin the process of turning David from the marshmallow man in Ghostbusters to the Hulk...hubba hubba! But to be honest after looking at pictures of David from the past (hear me shudder) he is far from the marshmallow man - I only call him that now compared to the results we could (and will) see in ninety days!! Well 93 days if he starts on Monday as planned. He has already lost a lot of weight and looks fantastic but being the chubby-chaser that I am I only want him to be healthy and feel good - and yeah… look sexy-er. He is after all my future hubby and the only man I will ever be with (or look at) again! It’s important to me that I stay attractive for him, so it’s important to him to stay attractive for me. Too many times I see couples just get comfortable with each other and the spark just fades. Yes my heart will never change but as we all know, my ass will…and so will his! And yes even after three kids I am determined to get back in shape, more than I’ve ever been. But that’s a different story, now we are talking about his journey and the effects on me…the good, the bad, the ugly! (You haven’t seen David’s workout shorts… oh, or his workout shirt. That hideous GREEN SHIRT! I HATE that shirt!)
Of course like everything else this will cost money. The chin up bar, the program, the protein powder, the diet…oh let’s talk about the diet. I have to be prepared (and so does he) for the time to come where I want to cook something really good (and bad) for you and he won’t eat it. That’s one issue I know we have had and probably will have…the aggravation of him not taking a bite of ANYTHING that may be bad for him. What’s one bite, right? Well too much for him and too little for me. I am going to search the recipes and I guess look for at least ninety meals to make over the next ninety days including some lunches and breakfast and not to mention snacks. Everyone needs a snack sometimes right?
So here we are pre-gaming the P90X! We’ve got our “team David” jerseys on! We brought (or bought in this instance) the equipment! We packed the keg (also known as protein powder and creatine)! Working on the grocery list to prepare the food, and the mindset that our team is going to kick some blubber butt and transform our main squeeze (David) into a lean, mean, sexy machine!! I know we will all be happier when he looks like the quarterback instead of the mascot. (And I look like the cheerleader instead of someone in the crowd over-visiting the hotdog stand) And what does he win (aside from a rock hard body, a happy wifey (by the time he’s done I will be “Mrs. David McHenry”) and some P90sex)? A tattoo across the stomach! I think those are some pretty nifty incentives to keep this up.
It’s not going to be easy. I’m sure we’ll have our struggles - but as any team with their eye on the prize… I’m sure we’ll do just fine. GO TEAM!
